Remember the 90s? Ah, the good old days. When girls wore crop tops, everyone was saying “whatever”, and Kurt Cobain was still alive. Now imagine if the world had ended there. We’d have gone out on a high note. Sadly, it didn’t, but now you can pretend it did! The freshman release from Contraband Games will let you do just that. What Remains is a post-apocalyptic tabletop RPG that poses the question: “What if Y2K actually HAD caused the apocalypse?”
When the clocks struck midnight, ringing in the new year on January 1, 2000, the Millennium Bug caused nukes to launch all over the world and resulted in an undeniably horrific chain of events. The blasts forced the tectonic plates to shift, triggering massive volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and a volcanic winter, followed by widespread radiation contamination, famine, disease, climate change, and biological mutations. And that’s IF you were fortunate, or maybe not so fortunate, to survive the initial blasts.
So here we are, in a world that ended in 1999, trying to survive the wasteland while wearing flannel shirts, parachute pants, body glitter, and combat boots.
